Oh man, looks like there's more Bad Blood brewing.
Moments after Us Weekly revealed that Taylor Swift had donated $250K to help Kesha as she tries to extract herself from a contract with her allegedly abusive music producer Dr. Luke, Demi Lovato took to Twitter to have her say.
And while her comment was fairly ambiguous, it definitely suggested that the “Confident” singer might not have been too impressed with the way the Swift had decided to show her solidarity for Kesha.
Take something to Capitol Hill or actually speak out about something and then I'll be impressed, the 23-year-old musician wrote in a post on Sunday, Febraury 21, that appeared to be aimed at Swift.
But Swift didn't have to wonder for long, if the comments were directed at her. Because her army of fans got in there right away, demanding Lovato explain, or take back, her words.
One Instagram user, proudofswift who had 55 followers at the time, and has now made her account private, suggested that Lovato was taking the focus away from Kesha by making this a story about herself and her new feud with Swift.
Incensed by the fan reaction, Lovato returned to social media to explain herself more fully.
How the fk am I making this about myself. blasted Lovato. At least I'm talking about it. Not everyone has 250k to just give to people. Would love to but I didn’t grow up with money and def haven’t made as much as her. At least I speak up about that's uncomfortable to talk about rather than trying to be politically correct 24/7, she went on.
There's no rivalry she continued. I just give more fks than other people and would rather start a dialogue about women coming forward about being raped than throw money at one person, she raged.
When the fan account user pointed out that Kesha's mom had been very appreciative of Swift's donation, and that shading the singer wasn't the answer, either, Lovato was enticed back to say more.
Didn't shade Taylor. If you take it that way than fine, she responded. I'm just tired of seeing women use women empowerment and 'feminism' to further brands without actually being the ones that have the uncomfortable conversations, she said.
I get shade and I don't give a f-k because someone has to be the one to take it. At least I'm getting my hands dirty, she added.
