That's NOT a good look: Lil' Kim makes a BIG fashion faux pas as the performs comeback gig in London

She may be approaching 40, but American rapper Lil' Kim clearly has no signs of dressing - or acting - her age.

The 39-year old was making what amounted to a comeback at London's The O2 on Friday as she prepares to release a new mixtape entitled Hardcore 2K13, next week.

Given that it's her first fresh material in eight-years, she clearly wanted to get people talking about it.

And, given her choice of outfit, that's exactly what she did.

The Brooklyn-born star - whose real name is Kimberley Denise Jones - sported a bizarre ensemble which looked far more Halloween than comeback queen as she took to the stage with her band and backing dancers.

The top piece seemed to be a belted bodice with a visible bra top, complete with tied cuffs and a huge trail.

She teamed this with huge, over-sized, red knickers which looked mightily uncomfortable for any woman to wear - not least because it revealed some unflattering, and seemingly painful, camel toe.

She capped the look with thigh-high boots and several pieces of 'bling' jewelery, plus Geisha-like make-up on her face.

Interestingly, the performance seemed to divide fans and critics alike - with some praising the star and others questioning her choice of style.

regardless, the rapper was clearly excited about her return to releasing music.

The feisty rapper’s new mixtape will see her revisit her nineties roots by reviving the old cover art for 1995 debut album Hard Core.

That album went double platinum following its debut at number eleven on the US Billboard 200 – the highest entry for a female rap album at the time – after selling more than 78,000 copies in its first week of release.

Significantly for Kim she climbed to number one on the Rap Chart with three tracks from the long player - No Time, Not Tonight (Ladies Night remix) and Crush on You.

She also climbed to number one on the US Billboard Hot 100 with Christina Aguilera, Pink and Mya collaboration Lady Marmalade in 2001 – a feat that is yet to be equaled by another female rapper.

The star has previously been critical of the changes to rap in the years following the release of last album The Naked Truth in 1995, but she recently admitted during an interview with the Guardian that she can still identify with some of the current crop.

She said: ‘I love Rihanna because I see a lot of Rihanna in me and a lot of me in Rihanna. Miley (Cyrus) and I have clicked.

‘She told me that the two artists she’s ever wanted to collaborate with are me and Dolly Parton.’
the singer sported an outfit that left many onlookers bemused.
