Emma Watson is reteaming with "The Perks of Being a Wallflower" writer-director Stephen Chbosky in a new movie that sounds a lot like the Zac Efron vehicle, "17 Again." The news was first reported by Deadline.com.
The movie is "While We're Young," an adaptation of Adena Halpern's 2010 novel, "29." The film offers a multi-generational story about a 75-year-old woman who feels more kinship with her 29-year-old granddaughter than she does her 55-year-old daughter. In a mystical twist, she gets the opportunity to return to her 29-year-old self and spend time with her granddaughter as a younger woman.
There's no word on which actresses will take on the older roles, but with a script by "(500) Days Of Summer" and "The Spectacular Now" writers Michael H. Weber and Scott Neustadter, an all-star cast could give this project enough gumption to become a hit. It'll take some clever finessing not to fashion a repeat of many other body swap comedies, including the aforementioned"17 Again," "Freaky Friday," "Like Father, Like Son" and "Vice Versa."
"While We're Young" will mark Chbosky's third screenplay after "Wallflower" and the 2005 adaptation of "Rent." He also co-wrote and produced the short-lived CBS drama "Jericho." By Nevel
