Kellie Pickler has never slipped into denim she didn't like. "I'm obsessed with jeans! I mean, I grew up country!" confirms the petite American Idol alum, whose fourth album, The Woman I Am, drops Nov. 12. The laid-back singer and Dancing With the Stars champ says she usually lives in Target tees and tanks, but recently splurged on a new handbag to dress up her wardrobe basics.
"I impulse-bought a Jimmy Choo snakeskin bag the other day," the Nashville-based singer, 27, admits to Us Weekly. "But they took advantage of me -- they gave me wine! My husband [musician Kyle Jacobs] was like, 'Baby, did you drink and shop again?'"
Her recent extravagance aside, Pickler tells Us she'd much rather keep her closet low-key. "I could never be one of those trophy wives who wears evening gowns around the house," says the star. "I'm a casual kind of gal!"
To spice up her fall wardrobe, Pickler turned to Us Weekly to tap into the latest denim trends, and tried on a few pairs to share her thoughts with Us.
DISTRESSED
The pair: Beau five-pocket boyfriend jeans in 15 Years Thrasher wash, $225, agjeans.com
Kellie's take: Hole-y cuteness! "Throw on a pair of false eyelashes and you've got some serious glam going on," Pickler, who added edge to her outfit with Valentino's leopard-print calf hair and leather Rockstud pumps.
BLEACHED
The pair: 620 mid rise super-skinny jeans in Frostbite, $209, jbrandjeans.com
Kellie's take: "I love the light color. It matches so many tops," gushes the musician, adding that the outfit "says 'fall' to me." But the real power of the powder-blue pants lies in their lightweight cotton-elastane blend. "I've got short legs and a big butt," jokes Pickler. "I don't want the saggy bottom at the end of the day! These jeans really hold their shape.
COATED
The pair: Twiggy low-rise skinny legging jeans with Black Ruby coated finish, $180, jamesjeans.us
Kellie's take: "I'd wear these on stage," the Haute Hippie fan tells Us of the update on last fall's colored jeans. To complete the look, take a cue from Pickler and wear with a silk tank and tailored blazer.
EMBELLISHED
The pair: Denim & Supply Ralph Lauren studded canvas carpenter pant, $398, denimandsupply.com
Kellie's take: "You don't need accessories with these pants," she declares. "They're so detailed, they make a big statement. I'd wear this out and about running errands or hanging out with friends. They'd be comfy to fly in, too!" By Nivel
